With a glass elevator ride, a 360° view of the city, and a bird’s eye perspective of the city, the Vancouver Lookout is sure to spark any student’s curiosity. The Vancouver Lookout’s tailored school programs are designed by a qualified teacher and are in accordance with the province of British Columbia’s school curriculum, making for a streamlined, educational field-trip on which teachers can rely. Instruction time ranges from 1.5 to 2 hours and include group exercises, handouts, and visual aids. Educational tours operate from October to April, for a maximum of 30 students. Bird's Eye View

Designed for Grade 2 and 3 (Social Studies)

With a view of the mountain ranges, forest, ocean and all of the Lower Mainland, students will be inspired to learn about geography, the environment and the history of the city. Give your students a well deserved, recess in the sky!

Program Structure:

  • Explore the visible patterns of human settlement by examining the urban sprawl
  • Discover how geography and natural resources lead to Vancouver’s growth
  • Review the environmental conditions in the Lower Mainland
  • Discuss how to protect the environment: large-scale protected parks, alternative energy, and personal actions such as recycling and composting


The Business Of Tourism

Designed for Grade 12 (Tourism or Business Studies)

By using one of Vancouver’s top attractions as a case study, your students will learn about the significance of tourism in the economy and the importance of putting a marketing strategy in place. Your students will be directly exposed to the Lookout’s key marketing strategies and tourist behaviours through a thought-out, hands-on curriculum.

Program Structure:

  • Guided tour of the Vancouver Lookout facility
  • Explore the eight different tourism sectors in Vancouver
  • Learn the 4 P’s of marketing and tourism’s unique 7 P’s
  • Study Vancouver Lookout’s marketing strategies: determine target markets, set a strategy, and select effective media for advertising
  • Analysis of sample brochures and coupons
  • Quiz on Business, Marketing and Tourism


The Business Of Tourism

Presentation skills are paramount in today’s job market. Students get hands on training, tips and tricks from our tour guides.

Program Structure:

  • Guided tour of the attraction
  • Students have opportunity to provide feedback
  • Tips on presentation methods and what makes a great tour
  • Group activity where students create their own tour scripts on a section of the city
  • Handouts with public speaking tips as well as an abbreviated Tour Script to work with


Sky Scouts

Designed for Children Ages 6-12

The Sky Scouts is designed for children to learn about Vancouver by engaging in exciting and interactive activities.  Each child receives an activity book filled with colouring pages, connect the dots and search word puzzles.

The Sky Scout program is offered throughout the year to individual guests or for groups of up to 30 children; kids can become a Sky Scout through self-guided activities or join one of our Sky Scout Guides.  Explore Vancouver, locate our city’s most famous landmarks and learn about clouds and their relationship to weather.

It’s a fun way to spark an interest in the city and the activity book is a great take home memory.
