BC Athlete Send-Off in Vancouver

On Monday, July 14, 2008 Canadian Sport Centre Pacific (CSC Pacific) will host a public pep-rally in celebration of BC athletes and coaches whom have been chosen to represent Canada at the Olympic and Paralympic Games this summer in Beijing, China.
This festive event will be held at the Granville Square Plaza on the waterfront and will incorporate live entertainment, media, and special presentations. British Columbia’s athletes have worked tirelessly to achieve their dreams of representing Canada on the world stage – we aim to showcase the pride, energy and spirit that BC has for our home town heroes.
Prior to the public rally, athletes, coaches and local and national media will meet at the Vancouver Lookout atop Harbour Centre for an intimate media mixer, while enjoying the 360 degree view of one of Canada’s most beautiful cities.
The date, Monday, July 14, ensures that athletes from the following sports will be in attendance: Badminton, Men’s Field Hockey, Women’s Soccer, Softball, Swimming.
The Beijing Bound Rally has been made possible with the help of the Canadian Olympic Committee, and presenting partner Canwest Media.
The Grind in the City - Saturday, April 26, 2008 On Saturday, April 26th, the Vancouver Lookout proudly hosted the 2008 edition of The Grind in the City charity stair climb in conjunction with Harbour Centre. In support of Muscular Dystrophy Canada, the event featured a challenging 700 step - or 43 story - ascent, that's 466 vertical feet!
The 2008 ascent record, from street level to the viewing deck, was an incredible 4:22 minutes in the open category and 6:34 minutes for firefighters in full gear and breathing apparatus!
We salute all participants and volunteers and look forward to the next edition of the Grind in the City.
